About one month ago, we told you about our recent experience tasting wine from Utopia Vineyard and Winery. We also shared our thoughts on Utopia Pinot Noir Blanc “Bliss,” Chardonnay, Pinot Noir Paradise and Utopia Estate Pinot Noir. Subsequently, we had the fortune to taste two more wonderful Utopia wines – a Rosé and another Pinot Noir. We can’t wait to tell you about them.
Utopia Wines
Utopia Vineyard and WInery is located in the Ribbon Ridge AVA, which is a sub-AVA within Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Moreover, many people applaud Ribbon Ridge Pinot Noir for its dark fruit character, elegance, bright acidity and expressive spice notes.
Utopia Vineyard Pinot Noir Rosé 2019 ($27)
Bright cranberry in color, this smooth rosé showcases that elegance and bright acidity of the region. Luscious aromatics of watermelon and strawberries lead into flavors of more watermelon and strawberries, in addition to cherries and spice. Pair this food-friendly rosé with seafood, triple-cream cheeses, shellfish, salads, pasta, grilled chicken, grilled lamb, Asian dishes or red-berry desserts. Or simply drink this lovely rosé without food, as a refreshing summer sipper.
Utopia Estate Reserve Pinot Noir Clone 777 2017 ($65)
Utopia’s Clone 777 Pinot is a sophisticated, elegant wine that opens with a beautiful nose of cherries and cola, followed by flavors of red and blue fruits, layered with spices and cola notes. Well balanced, complex and structured, this beauty paired well with cedar-planked Copper River salmon on the barbecue. You could easily drink it now with decanting, as we did, or put it away for a few years and watch its impressiveness increase further.
Summary
Above all, we highly recommend you try Utopia wines. You can order them online or, if you’re in the Willamette Valley, Utopia is open daily. Appointments are suggested.
Many thanks to Utopia for the wine samples. Next time we are in Oregon, we will stop by to purchase some of these excellent wines.
Cheers!
