Top 40 Wines 2024As always, we found it difficult to narrow down a list of our Top 40 wines in 2025, but ultimately we chose those wines that made a lasting impression. Not surprisingly, we tasted hundreds of wines last year. Some, we bought at wineries and retail outlets. Others, we tasted at wine events such as Taste Washington and Swirl Around B.C. Likewise, some fine folks shared their bottles with us, while others kindly sent us samples.

Overall, our 2025 list features 11 sparklers, 13 rosés and whites, and 16 reds, from Washington, British Columbia, Oregon, California, England, France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, South Africa, and New Zealand. Some are on the list because of their exceptional quality (with a matching high price point). On the other hand, others are simply excellent value wines. Moreover, we waited until the beginning of the new year, so we could also include wines we adored over the holidays.

Top Wines 2024Most importantly, we are wine enthusiasts, not wine critics. So, these wines are not scored or ranked. Rather, they are our favorites, near and dear to our hearts, which we tasted in 2025. Our home state, Washington, comprises the most wines (23). Next is British Columbia (6); similarly, we live four miles from the BC border. But our list also features wines from Oregon (1), California (1), England (2), France (2), Italy (1), Spain (1), New Zealand (1), Argentina (1), and South Africa (1).

Certainly, we loved all 40 of these impressive wines. Although they are wines we tasted in 2025, some are older vintages. Regardless, you should be able to find recent releases of the same wines. In other words, we recommend that you check with the wineries for current releases.

In addition, we chose only one bottle from each winery, so more wineries could be highlighted, with one exception — Trothe landed on both the white and red lists. As well, in a couple of cases, the same winemaker made a wine under two different labels. Specifically, Morgan Lee crafted wine for both Two Vintners and Block Wines. Meanwhile, Matt Reynvaan created Reynvaan Syrahs and MTR Productions Memory Found.
