Peter Devison is living his dream. After years as a winemaker for several well-known wineries, he now crafts wine under his own eponymous label in Walla Walla. From a gorgeous Sauvignon Blanc to Rhône-style reds to a Rocks District beauty, Peter makes impressive wines that display artistry, in addition to science. We recently tasted four unique wines imported by Kobrand Wine and Spirits. These wine gems of the world differed by variety, location and price point. For example, the brands include a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a red blend and a Fiano from Italy, and an Argentinian Malbec. In addition, their price points range from $19 (Malbec) to $50 (Cab Sauv). Above all, despite these disparities, the wines have one thing in common – we recommend all of them. Read on for details.
April 22 is Earth Day, and we raise a glass to Mother Earth with L’Ecole Estate Syrah 2018. Above all on this special day, L’Ecole 41 is a leader of the sustainable farming program in the Walla Walla Valley. All of L’Ecole’s estate wines are Certified Sustainable and Salmon Safe. Every year, we love to share WA Wine fun facts about the wonderful wine industry in Washington state. Therefore, we hope you enjoy this updated 2020 version, courtesy of Washington Wine. First, Cabernet is still King in this state (29% of crop), followed by Chardonnay (16%). Riesling, Merlot and Syrah round out the top five, which altogether equate to more than 80% of the crop. Second, Cab Franc received the highest average price per ton. Overall, for four years now, red varieties account for nearly 60% of the total WA crop.
