Favorite 50 Wines in 2020Happy New Year! As we begin 2021, it would normally be time for our annual 50 Favorite Washington Wineries List for the previous year. But 2020 was far from normal. Firstly, thanks to COVID, we attended our last wine event on Feb. 29. Secondly, we had to cancel our planned trips to wineries in Walla Walla, Woodinville, Lake Chelan, B.C. and Oregon. As a result, we decided to highlight our favorite 50 wines instead of wineries in 2020. These are the wines we enjoyed at home or with members of our pod on socially-distanced outdoor patios. In addition, we expanded the list to include wines from Oregon, California, B.C., Australia, New Zealand, Italy, France, Spain, Chile and Argentina. Read on for our favorite 50 wines in 2020.

Holiday Wine 2020

Red wine for the holidaysAbove all, excellent wine over the holidays adds a little zing to the season. But each person’s choice of excellent holiday wine is a unique decision. Therefore, our list of special red wines that we enjoyed during 2020 is unique to us. However, you might really like some of them!

Of note, some of these wines are special because of their high quality and therefore, high price point. Equally important, others are special good-value wines enjoyed throughout the year. Notably, during this pandemic, we recommend opening your holiday wine during a festive evening at home or giving them as gifts.

Thanksgiving Wines 2020

Thanksgiving is around the corner, and this year looks a lot different than in the past. The pandemic means less travel, with many people, including us, celebrating the holiday at home. Some will have Zoom calls with family and friends. Or some might even brave the cold weather for a social-distancing happy hour outside. Lovely Lula

Lula Vineyard WinesLula Cellars  is located on a 22-acre property located in Philo, just a couple of hours north of San Francisco. In the area known as “The Deep End” of Anderson Valley, some of its more famous winery neighbors are Twomey and Navarro Vineyards. We recently tasted four balanced, complex and lovely Lula wines – three Pinot Noirs and a Rosé of Pinot Noir. We enjoyed them all, and so did our friends who shared them with us.
