Recent Canvasback ReleasesIf you’re looking for an exceptional glass of wine for that special occasion, look no further. All six of these recent Canvasback releases (three Cabernet Sauvignons, two Syrahs and a Malbec) are striking. But many other words also describe them, including sophisticated, polished, luscious, appealing, hedonistic and killer. Canvasback has it all. Duckhorn pioneers Dan and Margaret Duckhorn founded the winery in 2012, and named it after the Canvasback duck, native to the Pacific Flyway. Every winter, we are fortunate to see Canvasbacks in our little backyard lake. Each year, just like the duck, Canvasback wines soar.

The Funks

The Funks: Rich and JaredIt’s all about the Funks! Specifically, we are talking about Saviah Cellars’ incredible co-owner/winemaker Rich Funk; his talented son and viticulturist Jared Funk; captivating Funk Vineyard (and Stones Speak Vineyard) and some of the best funky wines from the Rocks District. But it’s important to note that Saviah Cellars also features a stellar lineup of wines from other vineyards. In short, the Funks are some of our favorite people in the Washington wine industry. And we have more Saviah Cellars wines in our cellar than any other brand. Canvasback

Canvasback Taste Red Mountain WoodinvilleWe became re-acquainted with Canvasback last month, when we tasted two of their beautiful Cabernet Sauvignons at Taste Red Mountain Woodinville. Consequently, we also met Brian Rudin, their very talented winemaker who is known for making terroir-driven, structured wines with an unmistakable sense of place. As a result of this meeting, Brian kindly shared two of the winery’s outstanding Syrahs. Their fruit is sourced from our two favorite regions, the Rocks District and Red Mountain.
