Favorite 50 Wines in 2020Happy New Year! As we begin 2021, it would normally be time for our annual 50 Favorite Washington Wineries List for the previous year. But 2020 was far from normal. Firstly, thanks to COVID, we attended our last wine event on Feb. 29. Secondly, we had to cancel our planned trips to wineries in Walla Walla, Woodinville, Lake Chelan, B.C. and Oregon. As a result, we decided to highlight our favorite 50 wines instead of wineries in 2020. These are the wines we enjoyed at home or with members of our pod on socially-distanced outdoor patios. In addition, we expanded the list to include wines from Oregon, California, B.C., Australia, New Zealand, Italy, France, Spain, Chile and Argentina. Read on for our favorite 50 wines in 2020.

Cooperativa Vinícola San Valero-Part 2

Bodega San Valero WinesThis is our second of two posts about Cooperativa Vinícola San Valero — a group that began in 1944 with 66 wine-growing partners in Cariñena, Spain, and currently consists of 500 wine-growing partners and 4,000 hectares of vineyards. Co-ops are a relevant concept in Spain. Originally, they were startups for survival, and now they continue to provide ongoing support for small family farms. With a rich history of innovation, the cooperative produces expressive and fun wines at wallet-friendly prices.

In the month of April, we participated in weekly #WineStudio tastings of some of their wines. Part 1 looked at the five wines that we enjoyed at the beginning of the month. This post discusses four more wines that we tasted in the last two weeks of April. Continue reading

Cooperativa Vinícola San Valero-Part 1

Bodega San Valero WinesIn 1944, 66 wine-growing partners in Cariñena, Spain established Cooperativa Vinícola San Valero. Seventy-five harvests later, they are celebrating this milestone with a renewal of their wines and wineries. The group currently consists of 500 wine-growing partners and 4,000 hectares of vineyards.

The cooperative is made up of Bodega San Valero, the original winery, along with Bodega Gran Ducay, Bodega Particular de San Valero, Bodegaverde de San Valero and Tierra de Cubas. With a rich history of innovation, the cooperative produces expressive and fun wines at wallet-friendly prices.
