Sosie Wines is a French-inspired boutique winery in Sonoma County. Sosie is the French word for “double” or “twin.” Sosie’s husband-and-wife team of Scott MacFiggen and Regina Bustamante say the name reflects their ambition to produce California wines in an Old World style: food friendly and well balanced between acid and fruit. In the past few months, we’ve tasted three Sosie Reds in their lively portfolio — two different blends and a Pinot Noir. Read on for Sosie’s story and our notes on Sosie Reds. Continue reading
We recently tasted four unique wines imported by Kobrand Wine and Spirits. These wine gems of the world differed by variety, location and price point. For example, the brands include a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a red blend and a Fiano from Italy, and an Argentinian Malbec. All but one of these wines are distributed in 37 states in the U.S. Read on for more details.
During our recent visit to Walla Walla, Winemaker Marcus Rafanelli gave us a behind-the-scenes look at L’Ecole wine production. Over the years, we have enjoyed facility tours at wineries around the world. But this is a different class altogether for small-batch winemaking. The technology at L’Ecole 41 is showcased in state-of-the-art equipment. It was so cool to see how automated data creates such quality wine. Marcus also poured his excellent 2020 Alder Ridge Vineyard Grenache Rosé. And we barrel-tasted five of his new wines created with this new technology. Read on for details about L’Ecole wine production, and Marcus’ wines.
