Over the last six months, we purchased several different bottles from Full Pull Wines, the amazing online retailer based in Seattle. Since I can’t drink wine right now while I recuperate from knee surgery, this article features these Full Pull wines that we are looking forward to opening in the future. They are either 1) new vintages of wines we’ve enjoyed in the past; 2) new wines from winemakers we appreciate; or 3) wines we’ve never had before but are attracted to their tasting notes from others.
We initially wrote about Full Pull, the brainchild of owner (and excellent wine writer) Paul Zitarelli, shortly after its October 2009 launch. Paul sells wine through a mailing list. The process is simple. First, Full Pull emails you about wine their staff loves. Next, you request the bottles that appeal to you. Finally, you pick your wine up at the warehouse or have it shipped. Better yet, there is no monthly fee or minimum purchase. And the deals are worthwhile. Read on for details of the latest wines we ordered.
What a treat – we spent an afternoon with two exceptional Washington winemakers, John Bigelow of JM Cellars and Morgan Lee of Two Vintners Wines (et al) in April at their tasting rooms at The Vault in Maltby. Not surprisingly, their wines were exceptional and their stories kept us both intrigued and laughing at the same time. And we finally met Alice, Morgan’s sweet Black Lab, who has a stunning red wine named after her. We tasted that wine, along with several of Morgan’s mouthwatering Syrahs and his excellent Grenache Blanc, along with John’s stellar (and unreleased) Founder’s Reserve, and his amazing Grenache, Malbec, and two styles of Chardonnay. Here are our favorite wines in 2022 – Part 1. You might recall that in early January we revealed the list of our favorite 20 wines last year. We compiled the list after tasting hundreds of wines in 2022. These 20 wines made a lasting impression. However, at that time, we simply published a list of the wines, with links to their wineries. Therefore, over the next few weeks, we will be sharing more details about these wines. Read on for Part 1. Continue reading →
We said it before, and we’ll say it again: We’ve never met a wine from Morgan Lee that we didn’t like. Or love. From Two Vintners Wines to Covington Cellars to his Full Pullpartnership with Block Wines, Morgan Lee makes killer juice. Not surprisingly, he’s frequently described as a superstar winemaker. We caught up with him two weeks ago when Washington Wine invited media and trade to the scenic Chateau Ste. Michelle to a “Celebrate Washington Wine” Grand Tasting. He poured his amazing new release, Two Vintners 2018 Gayle Syrah. And we also recently opened six of his other wines: Block Wines 2018 Ankleroller Rocks Syrah and Starside Cabernet Sauvignon 2020; Two Vintners 2015 Some Days are Stones Syrah, 2017 Syrah, and 2018 Lola; and Covington Cellars 2017 Franc.
