Winemaker Picnic SignEvery year, we always have a wonderful time at the Auction of Washington Wines, especially the Winemaker Picnic & Barrel Auction at Chateau Ste. Michelle. And this year was no exception. We talked to winemakers, caught up with old friends, and celebrated Washington wine. Bayernmoor Cellars 2020

BayernmoorWe were first introduced to Bayernmoor Cellars last year, not long after the winery opened in Stanwood in western Washington. Focusing on European-style wines, Bayernmoor showcases the beautiful grapes grown in a six-acre estate vineyard of Pinot Noir in addition to Otis, Klipsun and Celio. Just in time for the holidays, we were fortunate to taste three lovely Bayernmoor wines: 2018 Chardonnay, 2017 Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir and 2017 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon.

Bellingham NW Wine Festival 2019

Mark your calendars for the fourth annual Bellingham Northwest Wine Festival on August 10 at Four Points by Sheraton. This is our favorite local summer wine event. Whether you live in Bellingham, Birch Bay, other parts of Whatcom County, or the Vancouver and Seattle areas, save the date and prepare to have fun. More than 55 wineries from Washington, Oregon and Idaho will be pouring up to 150 different wines. Two local distilleries and at least one northwest brewery will also participate.

Bayernmoor Cellars – a New WA Winery

Bayernmoor Cellars is a new, small winery that opened up recently in Stanwood in western Washington. First, attorney Larry Harris and his family established a six-acre vineyard of Pinot Noir. Next, other grapes were sourced from premium Washington vineyards Destiny Ridge, Otis, Klipsun and Celio.

The family decided to focus on European-style wines that showcase the beautiful grapes grown here, and asked pioneer Washington winemaker Brian Carter to join their team.

Recently, we were fortunate to taste three lovely Bayernmoor wines: 2018 Rosé, 2017 Chardonnay and 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon.
