Sagebreaker is a new wine venture from the impressive Trothe dream team at Andrews Family Vineyards in Washington state’s Horse Heaven Hills. When we visited the vineyards last summer, Proprietor Jeff Andrews previewed the new brand: “Inspired by our origin story, these wines are crafted from ground that our great-grandfather, George Smith, broke from sagebrush over 80 years ago.” Jeff kindly shared Sagebreaker’s delicious Bordeaux and Rhône blends with us this month. They will be available in the spring to the Sagebreaker allocation list.
Two weeks ago, we visited with the dream team at the beautiful Trothe facilities at Andrews Family Vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hills in Washington state. Trothe winemaker Ray McKee exudes a quiet confidence. Confidence that comes from experience, and in the terroir of Andrews Family Vineyards. Confidence in the dedication, passion and investment of a team with the same goal: making world-class wine that puts Washington’s Horse Heaven Hills AVA on the map as one of the world’s best wine-growing regions. Last week, we talked Trothe with Ray and vineyards manager Todd Chapman. They say they are living the dream. Continue reading
