Marqués de Cáceres

Marqués de Cáceres wineOn National Wine and Cheese Day July 25, we pointed to six wines from Marqués de Cáceres, one of Spain’s most recognized wineries. In addition, Certified Cheese Expert Hugh Gilmore recommended softer and lighter cheeses to pair with these wines during the summer. However, these bottles can also be enjoyed all year. Moreover, Vineyard Brands told us that all can be found in the U.S. Read on for details.

Marqués de Cáceres Sparkling, Rosé and Whites

Marqués de Cáceres Rose, White, SparklingFirst, Vineyard Brands suggests these four Marqués de Cáceres wines — a sparkler, a rosé and two whites.

  • Cava Brut ($15) paired with Garrotxa goat milk cheese from Catalonia – a semi-firm cheese that pairs well with the citrus bubbles
  • Rosé ($13) served with Mahon, a buttery, salty, tangy cow’s milk cheese from Menorca that matches the wine’s bright acidity and red berry flavors
  • Sauvignon Blanc ($19) with Monte Enebro goat’s milk cheese, which matches the lemony and grassy notes of the Sauv Blanc
  • Verdejo ($13) paired with Capricho de Cabra soft goat cheese, which pairs with the wine’s crisp white peach and citrus notes

Marqués de Cáceres Reds

Red WineFurther, Vineyard Brands suggests these two red Rioja wines.

  • Rioja Crianza ($20) with Manchego, probably the most famous Spanish cheese that goes well with the savory fruit notes of this wine
  • Rioja Reserva ($30) with Idiazábal, a smoky, buttery, rich sheep cheese that pairs with the Reserva’s richness and tannins

Summary

It doesn’t have to be National Wine and Cheese Day to appreciate these Marqués de Cáceres wines and cheeses. For example, the whites, rosé and sparkler also pair with summer on the deck, or with seafood all year. In addition, the two reds complement summer barbecues or hearty winter roasts.
