Lauren Ashton Cellars – Wine You Can Count On

If you are looking for a Washington winery that produces consistently great wine at a decent price point, look no further than Lauren Ashton Cellars. We have enjoyed these impressive wines since the day when talented winemaker Kit Singh and his wife Riinu opened their Woodinville winery. And their two June releases continue in the fine tradition we’ve come to know and respect; extraordinary wines for an enduring value.

So read on to find out more about Lauren Ashton Cellars 2014 Syrah and 2018 Cuvée Meline. Both were released early this month, and you do not want to miss them.

Lauren Ashton June Release Wines

Both these luscious wines demonstrate the versatility and consistent quality of Kit Singh’s wine. We recommend them both. Think barbecue for the Syrah and seafood or summer salads for the white blend.

Lauren Ashton Cellars 2014 Syrah ($35 MSRP)
First, the grapes come from Red Mountain. Immediately, you know this is going to be some good juice. Powerful, concentrated and full-bodied, this is a stellar wine that is drinkable now with decanting, or you can put it down for a few years because of its aging potential. This is 100% Syrah, with a mouthful of fruit flavors of black cherry and blueberry, accompanied by hints of black pepper, spice and espresso. Of note, it was left to mature undisturbed for 28 months before bottling. Kit suggests pairing it with garlicky lamb, sausages and grilled meats alongside asparagus, mushrooms and potatoes.

Lauren Ashton Cellars Cuvée Meline ($28 MSRP)
Our lakeside deck is calling for this beautiful, lush blend of Sauvignon Blanc (45%) and Semillon (55%). Aromatics of grapefruit, flowers, honeysuckle and melons are followed by rich flavors of grapefruit, apples and stone fruit, and a hint of flint. We plan on drinking this wine during warm summer nights, but it is also drinkable over the next couple of years. Kit suggests pairing it with fresh seafood served with zesty sauces and garlic, cheese and colorful antipasto platters.
