Thanksgiving Wines 2019

Thanksgiving is around the corner, and we’re trying to decide what wines to pour. Do you know yet? Perhaps you’re looking for a good pairing for your turkey feast, or a special bottle to take to a family dinner or an evening with good friends.

If you love red wine, some good bets are Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Merlot. But if you prefer whites, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay work well. Rosé is also a good option. Stu hosted our visit, which was simultaneously fun and educational. And wow, we love Soul Growers wines. We are not surprised that renowned Australian wine critic James Halliday gave Soul Growers five stars. And the good news – their wines are available in the U.S. and Canada.

This is the final installment of our three-post series about the exceptional Henschke, a 157-year-old family-owned winery in Australia’s Barossa. We visited last month, and had an experience that will always be remembered.

Indeed, while we enjoy many wines from Australia, Henschke is now our favorite winery in the country.

Our first post, Part 1, features Henschke’s storied history. Part 2 focuses on the best of the outstanding wines we tasted. This post highlights more of their wines that we enjoyed at their Cellar Door, and on an Australian cruise.
