We recently spent time with extraordinary Washington winemaker Morgan Lee, who kindly shared four bottles of remarkable Two Vintners wines with us. They included an appealing sparkling rosé and a unique Rhône blend, along with captivating Merlot and Reserve Merlot. Anniversary Wine
Wow, we haven’t opened this much wine in months, since way before my knee surgery. But it was our anniversary wine celebration – and these three bottles were excellent choices. In honor of BC wine month, we began with 2019 Tantalus Blanc de Blancs, a simply stunning sparkler of 100% Chardonnay with fine bubbles, bright acidity and salinity. Next came 2018 Liminal High Canyon Syrah, WeatherEye Vineyard. This impressive 100% Syrah is a silky, smooth special-occasion wine. And to round out the night, Two Vintners 2019 Oliver, which includes 70% Grenache from WeatherEye Vineyard, along with 20% Syrah, and 5% each of Petite Sirah and Cinsault. What a cool blend. Oh, what a night!
Lorimar
Lorimar Vineyards and Winery opened in Temecula 10 years ago, featuring a large portfolio of fruit-forward wines, Tuscan-style architecture and breathtaking views of Mount Palomar and the Santa Ana Mountains. The winery describes itself as “a fusion of wine, art, music and food.” Certainly, guests can enjoy live music while sipping wine and nibbling on appetizers, and local art is displayed throughout the tasting room. We found a distinctive personality there, and yes, their wines sing!
Monte De Oro
We discovered Monte De Oro on our recent road trip to Temecula wine country. The winery offers 180-degree panoramic views, in addition to an expansive tasting room with a large glass floor overlooking the barrel cellar. We shared small pours of nine standout wines. Consequently, we found it difficult to choose which bottles to bring home. Read on for more details about this impressive12-year-old winery.
