Blue Sky Day

Fria Frio Blue Sky DayFriã Friõ is made for your blue sky day, according to the labels on these two joyful wines from Vinho Verde DOC in Portugal. After sipping on Friã Friõ white and rosé, we understand why. We perfectly paired these two bottles with our deck on a couple of sunny May days. Borgo Maragliano

Borgo Maragliano BubblesBorgo Maragliano produces elegant, classic-method bubbles, which are delicious for special occasions or simply because it’s a lovely day. Located in Piedmont, near Asti, Italy, the estate comprises 110 acres of vineyards about 1,500 feet above sea level. This low altitude, combined with sea wind and the vineyards’ sandy-clay soil, creates a wonderful environment for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling grapes. We recently tasted three sparklers: Borgo Maragliano 2020 Francesco Galliano Blanc de Blancs Brut Alta Langa DOCG; 2020 Giovanni Galliano Brut Rosé Alta Langa DOCG; and 2018 Dogma Blanc de Noirs Brut Nature VS.Q. 2018.

For example, words like opulent, magical, stunning, elegant, and more. However, most of all, when we think of L’Ecole, we are constantly impressed with their consistent high-quality wines. Year in and year out, L’Ecole wines stand out. We don’t know anyone who doesn’t rave about their lineup of refreshing whites and luscious reds. Their Spring 2024 releases continue that trend of outstanding wine from Walla Walla.

South Africa Spring Wines

South Africa Spring WinesWe are delighted to experience South Africa spring wines with these five lovely bottles from four well-known producers. First, South Africa creates wine for every palate. For example, in the last few weeks, we discovered a stellar Helderberg Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Stellenboch. In addition, we poured a recent vintage of an old favorite, Stellenboch Cab Sauv from Stark-Condé. As well, we tasted new vintages of Lievland Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc. Finally, we enjoyed Pinotage from Southern Right. The two whites pair nicely with the deck on a warm spring afternoon. And the three reds are perfect for the start of BBQ season.
