Wine Growers British Columbia recently released excellent news about BC vintage 2025, after years of freezes, wildfires, and short harvests. Specifically, the 2025 Vintage Report states: This “lifted an enormous weight off the collective shoulders of the BC wine industry, its plentiful volume and high quality proving a crucial turning point in the fortunes of BC wine after two very challenging and small harvests.” In other words, the story is now of “recovery, resilience and exceptional quality.”
BC Vintage 2025
According to Wine Growers British Columbia’s newly released 2025 Vintage Report, there’s a lot to be excited about this vintage. It “is shaping up to be one of BC’s strongest in recent memory.”
The report notes that a mild winter, early spring, and long growing season gave vineyards time to recover from the freeze of 2024. As a result, vineyards produced both strong yields and high-quality fruit. “The result is a vintage defined by balance, ripeness, and freshness.”
Each region features standout varietals. For example, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Viognier in the Okanagan Valley. On Vancouver Island, look for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Meanwhile, in BC’s Fraser Valley, producers are proud of Bacchus, Siegerrebe, and Gamay.
The success of the 2025 vintage will showcase 100 per cent BC-grown wine again. Last year, many wineries turned to Washington, Oregon, and Ontario to supplement their grapes.
“Every bottle of BC wine represents local jobs, family farms, tourism, hospitality, and communities across the province,” said Jeff Guignard, President and CEO of WGBC. “After everything this industry has endured over the past several years, there’s something especially meaningful about seeing a truly great BC vintage back on shelves and tables again.”
