We first met Charlie more than 15 years ago at wine events such as Taste Washington and Auction of Washington Wines. Subsequently, we visited his Red Mountain tasting room for the first time in 2009. We returned many times over the years, and also frequented his Woodinville location when we lived in Seattle. So we were delighted to travel to Red Mountain in April, chat with Charlie and taste his excellent wines.

The entire lineup at Devison Vintners rocks. From a gorgeous Sauvignon Blanc to Rhône-style reds to a Rocks District beauty, Peter makes impressive wines that display artistry, in addition to science. And let’s not forget layers and layers of funk – the wine is funky, and then there’s Funk Vineyard. And last but not least, the talented winemaker, Richard Funk, who crafts outstanding wines, year after year. We visited Saviah’s tasting room in April. And of course, we brought home a few bottles. L'Ecole Chenin Blanc on DeckAre you looking for a summer sipper at an excellent price point? Look no further. L’Ecole Chenin Blanc is a standout, and it costs less than $20. Moreover, L’Ecole has produced this old-vine Vouvray-style Chenin Blanc since 1987.

Winemaker Marcus Rafanelli crafted this recent 2020 vintage, released last month, and it is superb. You can pair it with any number of dishes, but it also goes down very well on its own.
