Quilceda Creek Cab Sauv and Full Pull Wines

Happy ninth anniversary to Full Pull Wines, an online wine retailer that offers fine wines of the northwest, and other parts of the world, to members of its mailing list.

What an amazing nine years of growth it has been for creator and owner Paul Zitarelli, who has also just released a new book, 36 Bottles of Wine. This easy-reading, fun and educational book provides information about 36 bottles of wine (three a month for a year) and recipes for seasonal meals for pairing.

As a nine-year member of Full Pull’s mailing list, I have long been a fan of Paul’s writing. (He also is the lead wine writer for Seattle Magazine.) Below are some excerpts of his recent Full Pull email about 2015 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley — “arguably the most decorated bottling in the history of Washington wine.”

WBC is Returning to Walla Walla

This is the second time WBC is being held in Walla Walla – we attended the 2010 conference, which also marked the first time this major event was held outside of California wine country. Now, eight years later, it’s back on Oct. 4-7 — four days of wine tasting, winery tours, discovery sessions, educational sessions, live blogging, a dinner banquet, and pre- and post-conference excursions. It’s also so much fun to see old friends and make new ones who share a common interest – fine wine!

31st Auction of Washington Wines Raises More than $4M

The Auction of Washington Wines raised $4.1 million at their annual four-day extravaganza earlier this month, with proceeds benefiting Seattle Children’s Hospital and Washington State University’s (WSU) Viticulture & Enology Program.

We attended the Winemaker Picnic & Barrel Auction at Chateau Ste. Michellewhere $251,500 was raised for WSU’s program. This is a record, and an increase of 83% over last year. Attendance at this fun event also broke a record.

All the Washington wines we tasted at the picnic were amazing, but our two favorites came from Two Vintners and Fidelitas. And there were some other standouts that pleased our palates too.
